Imants has spent more than eight years working in digital marketing agencies, gaining experience across numerous industries (including FMCG, luxury, automotive, energy, finance, travel, betting & gaming, apparel, publishing and IT). His learnings extend over different business models, the operations behind them, the various ways of successfully implementing multi-market & multi-brand campaigns and much more.
At Mindshare Worldwide (GroupM / WPP) and Reprise UK (Mediabrands / IPG) before that, he was in charge of the largest SEO accounts of the teams behind them. At iProspect UK (Dentsu Aegis Network), as Head of SEO, he was responsible for ensuring one of the largest SEO teams in the industry, with more than 80 professionals, delivered cutting-edge solutions and stood out as a thought-leader in the industry.
SEO is not just about rankings - it's about looking at the entire 'owned and earned' ecosystem. This extends to UX, CRO and utilising other platforms such as YouTube and Pinterest, as well as identifying ways to reach users on platforms that biddable channels struggle to reach or are simply not effective. It means identifying the whole consumer journey: beginning from the moment prospects may not be aware of a product throughout the experience and loyalty phase, and ensuring the brand has content to meet the needs at every step, irrespective of the medium. This approach of complete non-biddable landscape ownership is what has allowed Imants to deliver results far exceeding expectations.
Imants has also been spearheading the breaking down of individual media-channel silos. The most notable involves creating a methodology and a web-based application for SEO & PPC integration. Despite being operational for less than a year, this was shortlisted by the Drum Awards as the best SEO & PPC software of the year.
Digital marketing wouldn't exist without rapid advancements in technology and Imants has always had an interest in current trends - from learning to program in his teens, to coding dozens of websites, to managing large IT projects. Nowadays, Imants applies this knowledge not only when it comes to advising on client-facing solutions, but to operations, where by using the Python programming language he creates efficient solutions that enable businesses to do more, and in less time, through better use of data and automation.
It is not just about delivering great work for the clients, it is also helping the industry grow through sharing. Imants has been invited to participate on panels and give talks at Google, as well as local and international digital marketing conferences. He has delivered multiple 12-week courses on digital marketing at General Assembly, helping people with little or no marketing knowledge to bridge the gap and be able to create and deliver integrated marketing plans at the end of the course.
